Special Interest Groups

ESCAN fosters Special Interest Groups (SIGs) that are tasked to bring together our members working in areas of common interest. Our SIGs can be made up of researchers, scholars, or other professionals with relevant expertise brought together by the interest in a common topic, offering knowledge exchange, various activities and collaboration opportunities. The SIGs have their own governance structure, mission and activities, ultimately serving as a forum for more specialised discussion and exchanging ideas under the overall scope of ESCAN. You need to be a member of ESCAN to form part of a ESCAN SIG.  You can find out more about each of the SIGs below.

SIG ESCAN-Embodied Neuroscience science

The Special Interest Research group on Embodied Neuroscience (SIREN) is dedicated to advancing the understanding of human behaviour through the integrated study of the brain and body, and their interactions with the physical and social world. Recognising the inseparability of these elements, SIREN fosters a collaborative environment that encourages interdisciplinary research, bringing together experts from (cognitive) neuroscience; clinical, cognitive, social and developmental psychology and neuropsychology; (neuro)psychiatry; psychotherapy; robotics, and beyond. science

By bringing together researchers from diverse subfields, SIREN aims to maximise shared knowledge and foster interdisciplinary collaboration, enhancing the overall quality and impact of research. SIREN aims to provide a platform for discussing recent advancements, addressing common challenges, and developing innovative methodologies, thereby strengthening the research community and advancing the field as a whole.science

SIREN engages in a variety of activities to foster collaboration, knowledge sharing, and community building among its members. Activities include organising webinars and workshops, a symposium/pre-conference meeting at the ESCAN conference, outreach and public engagement activities, promoting and facilitating collaborative research projects and grants, and publishing a regular newsletter to highlight research, events, jobs and funding opportunities.
